Layne Littlepage
Layne created her one-woman musical, "An Evening With Beatrice Lillie" as a tribute to her childhood idol, the legendary performer once called "the funniest woman in the world."
Starring as Lillie herself, Layne has received rave reviews for the show in New York, San Francisco, Palm Springs, and at the Edinburgh Festival and the Spoleto Festival USA (see Review Page).
Layne is also a writer, whose credits include three screenplays and two novels; "Murder-by-the-Sea" published by Doubleday, and "Wonkers" published by Dutton. Both novels are available at Amazon.Com.
A theater major in university and graduate school, Layne dropped out of acting to study classical voice, singing with The New American Opera Theater, the Mannes Mozart Project and New York Grand Opera.
Away from her Bea Lillie persona, Layne performs numerous cabaret/theater shows with her musical director Barney Hulse, featuring the songs of such legends as Noel Coward, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, and Richard Rodgers. Her World War II show honors the great entertainers of that unforgettable era. Layne's gift for mimicking legendary divas is also evident in her musical portrayals of Marlene Dietrich, Julie Andrews, Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead and Edith Piaf.
She has entertained national and international business organizations around the country, including the Concours Group, CSC-Index and the Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
Despite her busy schedule, Layne finds time to serve as a member of the music faculty at Santa Catalina School in Monterey, California, and to teach talented young singers.
